On Oct.13th, admission officers Ms. Sarah Fischer from Vassar College, Ms. Kathleen K. Abels from Haverford College, Mr.Christopher A. Flores from Hamilton and Dr. Monica Cable from Franklin and Marshall College visited our school. They delivered avery practical information session and interacted with students and parents zealously at college fair. A liberal arts college is characterized by flexibility, allowing students to dabble in a wide range of subjects when they are undecided,and to declare their major in the third year. Students have the opportunity to challenge different majors and degrees. The courseemphasizes critical and creative thinking, problem solving and communication skills. All the teachers and resources are specially setup for undergraduates, and the classes are mainly carried out in the form of small seminars. Students have chances to do researchduring undergraduate period. The grades examine all aspects of the student and refer to the student‘s evaluation and feedbackthroughout the semester. Teachers and students, students and students have a close relationship and there are a wide variety ofactivities on campus. The brief introduction of four prestigious liberal arts colleges: ★Vassar College★ Vassar College is one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, located in Poughkeepsie, New York. Founded in 1861, itwas the first college in the United States to award undergraduate degrees to women and one of the most prestigious liberalarts colleges on the east coast. Vassar College can satisfy literary and artistic youth all the fantasies of western universities:ancient architectural buildings, the best art history courses, the lawn with squirrel jumping…Above all, Vassar‘s liberal ethosallows students to do much more exploration: women‘s rights, political correctness, social justice…Here, the atmosphere offree discussion is prevailing. There are currently 2,450 students from 53 countries. The student–faculty ratio is 8:1, with anaverage class size of 19. There are 51 majors and 120 student–run clubs. ★Haverford College★ Haverford College offers students the opportunity to take classes at Bryn Mawr College, Swarthmore College andthe University of Pennsylvania. Haverford students are admitted to medical school, law school, and other professionalschools at rates significantly higher than national averages. Recent parts of graduates have gone to the University ofChicago, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, MIT, UCLA, Cambridge, and the University of Pennsylvania and so on. ★Hamilton College★ Hamilton College is located in Clinton, New York. It was founded in 1793 by Alexander Hamilton–one of the founding fathersof the United States, and it is the third oldest university in New York State. As a university with cutting–edge teachingresources and facilities, Hamilton has what is considered the best writing program in the country and first class economics,math, and psychology majors. In addition, Hamilton‘s Chinese and French majors are considered role models for theAmerican college language program. Hamilton is also known for his unique “open” curriculum, which focuses heavily ondeveloping students‘ writing skills, self–learning abilities and the ability to think independently. There are currently 1,850students from 45 countries. The student to faculty ratio is 9:1, with an average class size of 19. ★Franklin and Marshall College★ Franklin and Marshall College (“F&M“ for short) is located in the Lancaster, northeast Pennsylvania, named afterrevolutionary leader Benjamin Franklin and the fourth chief justice John Marshall. The college was established as the 25thinstitution of higher education as well as 17th university in American history. USNEWS ranks F&M 36th in the 2019 edition ofBest Colleges. Distinguished in biology, chemistry, government, geology and business, it is a key university in Pre–med,Prelaw and PhD. There are currently 1,149 students from 55 countries.
