One branch is not spring, hundreds of flowers bloom in the spring. In order to help the new teachers improve faster and better, and develop the leadership skills of experienced staff, on the afternoon of September 11, 2020, our school held “don’t forget your aspirations, take a voyage in dreams” as the theme of pairing experienced staff with new teachers. For each new teacher, our school specifies an excellent experienced teacher, to guide and help them as soon as possible achieve the transformation into their new role, and improve the level of teaching skills.
First of all, Principal Angel Lin sent us a message, which clarified the responsibilities and obligations of experienced and new teachers, passed on the idea that teaching and learning benefit each other, and gave great encouragements to new teachers.
Then, Johnny Yang introduced the duties of experienced teachers and young teachers. They should set an example to the new teachers in thinking and moral style, care about the ideological progress of apprentices, and teach by example. New teachers must accept the guidance of mentors modestly, learn from each other and innovate together with their “masters”.
Then, Ella Zhang Shared her growth story and passed on her years of teaching experience and methods without reservation. At the same time, she also put forward the requirements for new teachers, such as “teaching students according to their aptitudes, positive disciplines and consistent words and deeds”.
The meeting also held a brief but meaningful appointment ceremony for pairs of mentors and apprentices. All the 24 teachers went on stage according to subject groups to complete the pairing ceremony. The apprentices presented beautiful flowers to the mentors, and our school also issued the appointment letters to all the mentors and took a photo together.
After the appointment ceremony, they discussed the development plans together. During the discussion, the distance between mentors and apprentices was narrowed once again.
Finally, Mr. Zhou put forward ardent hopes and specific requirements for the growth of new teachers. Mentors and apprentices should help and learn from each other, and grow mutually. He hoped that the new teachers, under the leadership of all teachers, could rapidly grow into qualified teachers with temperature and depth, and inject new vitality into the education of WUIS.
“Qinglan Project” is an important measure to strengthen the training of young teachers in our school, which provides good conditions for the newly transferred young teachers to speed up their professional growth. We believe that through this mentoring pair activity, we can achieve win-win cooperation and create a better tomorrow for WUIS.
