When there will be times when the wind and waves break, hang up the clouds and sails to the sea. Hello, everyone. I’m “the inferior wave” Peter Su from Class D, Grade6. The year 2020 has been full of crises and challenges due to COVID-19. We have gone from “panic”at the beginning to scientific prevention, from home completion to study and work resumption. Like the competition itself, it’s a long and challenging process. The competition is a little cruel. Adequate preparation is important. The slightest misstep in spelling will make you fail. But it’s more loving, and you can get to know like-minded and different people from all over the country. Interest in English learning has been enhanced in me, with clearer goals.
I usually like reading before bed, history, geography and other extensive content. I communicate with teachers and classmates to express my ideas at school actively, and participate in spelling bee and talk show enthusiastically. My purpose to attend the competition is very simple: Regardless of the result, the preparation process is a harvest!
When I was in G1, I knew nothing about English, but now I can give English speeches and compete in many kinds of English competition. Thanks to variety of the school courses, I have accumulated knowledge and developed the ability of self-presentation in wonderful activities. I will learn to find shortcoming in the failure, and stick to the good habits in the future, to be a better me at WUIS.
Hello! I’m Victor from P6D. This summer holiday, I attended SPBCN and ITSO’s finals, and it is my second time to join this challenging but interesting competition. In ITSO, I’m in charge of Laser Letter and 九宫格. After like ten rounds, we proudly got the national second prize. Also, in the individual competition, I got the 7th in the higher grade group around the nation.
After all the nervousness and excitement in the competition, I got to know that it’s not easy to be where we are. Luck might help a tiny little bit sometimes, but most importantly you must work very hard. In the team competition, every member was fighting for WUIS. We knew our duties well and we tried our best to win. In the individual competition, I’ve gained a whole lot of experience twice and become much calmer. During this process, I’ve accumulated tons of words due to my hard work every day, which will help me a lot in English learning.
Teachers from WUIS have helped me a lot during the whole process. They keep motivating me, encouraging me, and teaching me a lot of skills, so that I’m confident enough to stay calm in the competition and get a good result. As well, there is a very good environment of learning English. Thanks to various lessons in which we speak English, for example ELA, Guided Reading, and Grammar, my English proficiency improves every day. There are a lot of foreign teachers and it’s a good opportunity for us to practice English skills. Here I want to sincerely say THANK YOU to every helpful teacher!
At last, I’d like to share some good ways to learn English. In you spare time, you can read English books to increase your vocabulary, instead of memorizing words mechanically. Also, watching movies is a good way to practice your listening. Another important way is to take every opportunity to speak English. This way, you’ll find it is more fun to learn English.
