At the beginning of October, autumn is gradually deepening. All teachers and students of Wuxi United International School gathered on the playground to hold a solemn flag-raising ceremony, officially launching October’s virtue theme — “Good at Communication.”
Accompanied by the flag-raising march, the national flag guard escorted the national flag onto the ground with neat and orderly steps. To the majestic sound of the national anthem, the five-star red flag rose slowly, and all teachers and students stood at attention and sang the national anthem in unison.
After the flag-raising ceremony, Ms. Elva and Mr. Stu were invited on stage to give a themed sharing speech on “How to Become a Good Communicator.” They encouraged everyone to try the following this week: ask a good question, share an idea, learn to observe and listen with your eyes, and gain new knowledge from different people. The two teachers especially reminded everyone: “A great communicator is not the loudest person in the classroom, but the one who knows when to speak and when to listen.”
Afterwards, the host summarized three key points of being a good communicator: learn to listen, express sincerely, and respect differences. The host also suggested that students set a small goal each week and practice starting from every dialogue. All students were called upon to start from every dialogue and become a good communicator as a member of the Wuxi United International School community.
