Virtue Assembly Shining Stars

Growth is not only about growing taller and gaining more skills; it is also about learning to see others. For primary school students, caring for others is never an extra assignment—it is an essential ability. It helps children gradually step out of the small world of “me first” and learn to be considerate, to share, and to reach out when others are in need. On September 23, all primary school teachers and students gathered in the Grand Theatre to explore September’s theme—Caring.

Through a warm and powerful recitation, the Grade 6 students led us into the world of “Caring for Others.” They conveyed kindness with their voices and awakened resonance with poetry, helping everyone present feel that caring is never a distant slogan. It is hidden in every outstretched hand, every greeting, and every moment when we are willing to pause for someone else.

Backbone of a Great Nation

This Virtue Assembly introduced us to the “Lady with the Lamp”—Florence Nightingale. She was the world’s first true female nurse and the founder of modern nursing. On the battlefield, she often carried an oil lamp and visited wounded soldiers one room after another at night, bandaging their wounds and talking with them. Everyone affectionately called her the “Lady with the Lamp.” Through her actions, she told us: caring for others does not require doing something earth-shattering. Sometimes, a warm word or a patient companion can bring light and hope to others.

WUIS Charity Day Presentation

Last semester, the Primary School continued to carry out the WUIS Charity Day, encouraging students to show care through small actions. At this Virtue Assembly, Ms. Chen Xiang—the mother of Ding Chen from P6A and Ding Jiaming from P3A—was invited on stage to share her charity journey with everyone. Through her personal experience, she told the students that charity is not far away and that caring for others can begin with small things around us. After the sharing, Ms. Yang Jiao, Chairwoman of the Xiexi Association, presented Ms. Chen Xiang with a charity certificate in appreciation of her long-standing enthusiastic support for charitable causes. This certificate is not only an honor, but also a witness to love, encouraging more students to join the ranks of caring for others.

WUIS cup-stacking team

Last semester, our school established a cup-stacking team. At this Virtue Assembly, Ms. Tiffany shared with everyone that since its establishment in May this year, our cup-stacking team has participated in the WSSA 2026 Sport Stacking Open in Guangzhou and Dalian, achieving excellent results. At the assembly, team members also gave a live performance. Their fingers flew, forming sequences in an instant, and the audience was amazed by the team members’ skillful speed, which won rounds of applause.

Behind these achievements is the tremendous support of parents. At this assembly, the school also received a special gift—Mr. Chen Weiyi, Ms. Ding Fengli, Ms. Wang Yafang, Ms. Xue Lian, and Ms. Zhu Shuyi donated 54 sets of cup-stacking sports equipment to the school. Because of this generosity, more students can pick up the cups and join this sport.

Labor Education

Labor education has always been a tradition and feature of our school. Through labor at home and at school, students improve their sense of responsibility and care in hands-on practice—learning to share housework and understand their parents at home, and participating in duty work and maintaining the environment at school, understanding how to contribute to the collective. At the Virtue Assembly, this month’s labor video took everyone back to the students’ moments and growth in labor.

Student Council

The heads of the student council gave feedback on the important aspects from this month. They praised the students for their good behavior, and gave expectations and suggestions on how to improve for next month.

The house winner this month was Yellow house, the representative of Yellow house came to receive their award on stage. Congratulations to Yellow house!

The Nuan-Nuan night time story

Reading can be like shining stars, illuminating the direction of children’s learning journey. When you listen to a story, you can go on a wonderful journey. The school gave prizes to excellent readers and encouraged more students to create more time for reading, to read more and to think more.

WUIS English Reading Marathon

The growth story of this semester is still being written, and a reading journey that nourishes the soul has quietly taken over—the WUIS English Reading Marathon has officially begun! At this assembly, nine “Reading Pioneer Classes” were commended. These classes performed outstandingly in English reading, demonstrating the power of reading through persistence and love. We hope more students will follow their example, make reading a habit, and let the fragrance of books fill the campus.

During the previous Charity Day activity, students visited a children’s welfare home, bringing warmth and care, and also learning about the children’s lives there. One visit helped students understand more deeply: caring for others means getting close, keeping company, and being attentive. May we hold care in our hearts and continue to pass on warmth.

Politeness in WUIS

In WUIS, every corner is overflowing with the breath of respect and friendship. Under the cultivation of civilised etiquette, students not only learn how to get along with others, but also understand the importance of self-cultivation. This is not only a temple of knowledge, but also a paradise for personality growth, so that the flower of civilisation blossoms quietly in the heart of every student. The virtue this month is “Politeness”. 22 students of “Politeness in WUIS” and a class of “Politeness in WUIS” were selected.
