Dragon Boat Festival-themed paperless

As the Dragon Boat Festival season arrived, our campus was filled with excitement and festive spirit. On June 18, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students participated in a Dragon Boat Festival-themed paperless assessment event. Free from the pressure of traditional written tests, students demonstrated their learning through a series of engaging challenges, turning assessment into a joyful experience and making their growth visible in meaningful ways.

Student Judges in Action, Supporting Every Step of Growth

Grade 4 students took on the important role of student judges. With patience, responsibility, and enthusiasm, they guided participants through each station and carefully recorded their performances, providing encouragement and support throughout the event.

Armed with their Dragon Boat Challenge Cards, the younger students eagerly moved from station to station. Each completed challenge earned them a special Dragon Boat Festival-themed stamp, transforming their cards into colorful records of achievement and progress.

Festival-Themed Challenges Showcasing Academic Skills

The event creatively combined academic learning with traditional Dragon Boat Festival culture through Chinese, Mathematics, and English challenge stations. Core learning objectives were embedded into fun activities, allowing students to learn through play and demonstrate their knowledge with confidence.

The Chinese Language Station featured four exciting challenges: Character Recognition, Reading Aloud, Recitation, and Creative Speaking. Students accurately identified characters and vocabulary, read passages fluently, confidently recited learned texts, and applied language skills in practical contexts, showcasing strong literacy foundations and communication abilities.

Mathematics Challenge Station · Developing Thinking Through Problem Solving

The Mathematics Station moved beyond traditional worksheets and focused on essential numeracy skills and real-life applications, helping students see mathematics as a practical tool for everyday life.

During the mental math activities, students demonstrated quick thinking and accurate calculation skills. Practical tasks involving measurement, time, and daily situations encouraged them to apply mathematical concepts meaningfully while strengthening logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.

English Challenge Station · Communicating with Confidence

The English Station included three engaging challenges: Phonics and Word Reading, Picture Vocabulary Recognition, and Situational Communication. Students confidently pronounced words, quickly identified vocabulary from images, and participated in conversations with enthusiasm and fluency, demonstrating impressive vocabulary knowledge and speaking skills.

Collecting Stamps and Celebrating Success

After collecting all of their festival-themed stamps, students exchanged them for Dragon Boat Festival sachet souvenirs and Green Card rewards. The celebration added a sense of accomplishment and excitement, ensuring every child left with happy memories and a strong sense of achievement.

The event ran smoothly from beginning to end. The Grade 4 student judges fulfilled their roles with care and professionalism, while the Grade 1 and Grade 2 participants approached every challenge with confidence and enthusiasm, demonstrating both strong academic foundations and well-rounded personal development.
