As the preschool arm of Xiehe Bilingual School (one of China’s first P4C pioneer schools and a 2020 Gold-Level recipient awardee), we have deliberately rejected rote, “tell-and-test” teaching. Instead, we employ thinking games, thought experiments, inquiry steps, and picture-book discussions to guide children in active listening, fearless questioning, empathetic understanding, rational reflection, and bold expression. Our goal is to cultivate the core dispositions of caring, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking so that every child experience the joy of growth through reflection.
Steady, thoughtful effort has earned recognition. In January 2025, Wuxi Xiehe Kindergarten was officially awarded the P4C Bronze-Level School accreditation by Dialogue Works & P4C China. This milestone marked the standardization and professionalization of our P4C practice—and laid a solid foundation for our pursuit of Silver-Level status. Inspired by this achievement, we have set our sights higher. Aligning with the Silver-Level standards, we are intensifying our work across the four dimensions—curriculum enhancement, teacher empowerment, learning-environment design, and home-school partnership—to deepen our “thinking campus” culture and nurture every child into a warm-hearted, articulate, independent thinker.
Clear goals and purposeful steps guided our journey. Anchored in three pillars—child development, teacher growth, and school advancement—we integrated P4C deeply into our over-all curriculum. With our core values of caring, collaboration, creativity, and critical inquiry, we support each child’s holistic, healthy, and sustainable growth.
To ensure effective implementation, we have established a three-tier support system:A dedicated P4C Steering Committee to coordinate tasks, define responsibilities, and monitor progress.Allocated funding to guarantee teacher training, acquisition of philosophical picture books, and the creation of inquiry-rich learning spaces.Regular visits and guidance from P4C experts to fine-tune our practice and optimize our path forward.
In our classrooms, we differentiate by age and ability. For younger learners, we used playful thinking games to spark curiosity and build an initial awareness of inquiry. For K – 1 and K – 2 children, we deepened philosophical experiences through guided picture-book discussions and thematic projects—encouraging proactive thought and confident expression. Simultaneously, we weaved “philosophy + five domains” into language, science, art, health, and social studies activities—empowering children to ask questions, reason, and communicate as a natural part of daily life.
Teachers are the heart of education and the cornerstone of our Silver-Level aspirations. We have invested heavily in P4C professional development—encouraging staff participation in specialized training and steadily increasing the number of certified P4C facilitators. Through regular lesson study, reflective practice, and a shared resource library, teachers evolve from “knowledge transmitters” into “inquiry guides,” sharpening their skills to foster philosophical thinking and forming a warm, expert P4C team.
Our efforts are bearing fruits. Children’s logical reasoning and oral-expression abilities have grown remarkably, earning high praises from our primary school colleagues as they transition to Grade One. Teachers’ professional competencies continue to rise, new P4C-inspired teaching achievement emerge, and city-level research projects advanced steadily. Home–school collaboration has flourished through parent conferences and family inquiry events, extending P4C’s spirit into every household and forging a thriving “school-led, family-engaged” learning ecosystem.
A highlight moment arrived as scheduled. On March 30, 2026, P4C China’s evaluation team conducted an onsite review of our curriculum, teacher development, and environment design—and offered high commendation. Two days later, we received the exciting news: Wuxi Xiehe Kindergarten has been honored as a P4C Silver-Level School. This accolade celebrates our dedication to philosophical education and marks a major milestone in our school’s history.
With new honors come renewed determination. Moving forward, Wuxi Xiehe Kindergarten will treat our Silver-Level accreditation as a fresh starting point—continuing to deepen our P4C curriculum, raise teacher expertise, and strengthen home-school partnership. As we steadily pursue the Gold-Level standard, we remain committed to nurturing each child into a warm, independent thinker and life-long learner who boldly chases the light of knowledge.
