March 28, 2026, our students participated in the 2026 Math Kangaroo competition, organized by ASEEDER Hong Kong, either online or at designated exam centers.
Math Kangaroo was proposed by Peter O’Halloran, an Australian mathematician and teacher, in the 1980s. In 1991, the idea was taken up in Paris, France, and quickly spread throughout Europe. The competition was named “Kangaroo” in honor of its Australian origin. Unlike traditional math competitions that focus on difficulty and challenge, Math Kangaroo aims to inspire students’ interest and confidence in mathematics through fun, lively, and real-life related problems. It helps develop mathematical thinking, as well as reading, understanding, analyzing, and problem-solving skills, making it suitable for students of all grade levels and abilities.
As of now, it has been held in 109 countries and regions. In 2025, approximately 6.5 million students participated globally, with around 1.5 million from Brazil. Traditional mathematical powerhouses such as Germany contributed about 900,000 participants, while the Czech Republic had around 400,000. France and Poland each had around 300,000 participants, and countries like Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan each had over 100,000 young participants. Math Kangaroo has been held in the United States for over 20 years, with rapidly increasing participation, especially in California, where spots are highly sought after by Asian-American families.
Students with outstanding results receive awards from the organizing committee, including global awards (Math Kangaroo Perfect Score) and national awards (National Top Gold, National Gold, National Silver, National Bronze, Proficiency Award).
Our students won 1 National Top Gold, 10 National Gold, 11 National Silver, 13 National Bronze, and 10 Proficiency Awards.
