Our Topic for this month is open mindedness.
In order to be open minded I believe there are 3 important characteristics.:

he first being…
Willing – Being willing to challenge your own ideas by surrounding yourself with people who challenge you. Step out of your comfort zone and spend more time with people who offer a different point of view. This is not easy and requires you to be brave, and a risk taker which I know is always encouraged in our Topic classes.
Empathy – Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and experience the emotions you would feel if you were that person. Being able to sympathise requires an open mind.
Curious – Desire to explore new ways of thinking leads to an understanding that there are different ways of doing things. We practice this way of thinking all the time in our science and topic classes.
Let go of your previous experiences or bias and exist in the present moment. The past can hold you back if you are not open to the possibility of living in the present moment.
Let us practice the art of being open minded and paint the WUIS hallways with the colour of curiosity. Embrace empathy and be willing to step out of our comfort zone, embrace change and surround ourselves with people who challenge us on a daily basis.
