Four minutes can be enjoyed by listening to a song, taking a walk for 300 meters, cooking a dish of vegetables, watching a piece of news…… Life is a gorgeous chapter with millions of four-minutes. The Golden Four Minutes that everyone should know is the four minutes after cardiac arrest happens.
According to statistics, about 3.5 million people die from injuries caused by accidents and violence in daily life, and the number of injured people requiring treatment is 100 to 500 times the above number. On-site first aid skills can be used for traffic accidents such as heavy bleeding, shock, electric shock, drowning, etc. If cardiopulmonary resuscitation can be performed in time within 4 minutes, human life can be saved. This time is called “Golden Time” for life-saving; if it exceeds 8 minutes, the success rate of the life-saving is only 5%, and it is basically impossible to save life after 16 minutes. The hospital ambulance leaves within 5 minutes after receiving the call. According to the expectation that the medical staff will arrive after 15 minutes, the best rescue time will be missed in most cases.。
For this reason, the school clinic invites Ms Honglei Sun from Wuxi Red Cross to make First Aid training to our staff on the afternoon of November 19th, 2020. Ms Sun’s training was humorous and interesting, the language was easy to understand, the on-site teaching was clear, the important and difficult points were analyzed in detail, and the staff had a high degree of participation in interactive communications, which truly internalized the training content.

First Aid Knowledge
Step 1: First call 120 with details and location when there is only you with the patient onsite. If there is others onsite, ask he or she to call 120 for help.
Step 2: Immediately do chest compression for the patient.
Kneel on the patient’s side and overlap the hands, place the root of the palm in the center of the chest at the midpoint of the connection between the nipples and press continuously and quickly, with a frequency of 100-120 times per minute and a compression range of 5-6cm. (Those who have not been trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation can just press instead of blowing, and persist until the professional emergency personnel arrive.)
Step 3: Clean up foreign bodies in the mouth, raise the jaw, tilt the head back, and open the airway for the patient.
Step 4: If there is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the nearby, use the AED immediately after chest compression, and follow the voice prompts to improve the success rate of rescue.
In order to further enhance and consolidate the effectiveness of training, the school has purchased a life-saving AED (automatic external defibrillator) and professional CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation, artificial respiration training simulator) for staff to do practical training. With the guidance of the school clinic staff, the school management team members take the lead in learning and practicing, and ensuring that everyone can make the right treatment in emergencies.

Practical skills are inseparable from scientific guidance. Everyone can learn first aid knowledge in spare time and get a helpful skill for the future life. Attached are CPR and AED explanation videoes for everyone to learn.。(video1)(video2)
Besides teaching and educating as the basic role of the school, cherishing life and caring for health are also the inescapable duties of all staff. Everyone only lives once. Health cannot be replaced with money and material. Life lies in exercise. Proper exercise can make the heart muscle develop, contract forcefully, and enhance heart function. Let us protect the heart and protect the golden four minutes of live-saving.
