My name is Angela Xun and I am in Grade 11 at WUIS. The UGC Office and my Head of Grade Mr. Yohan informed me of an exciting opportunity to visit a handful of the USA’s top Universities during my New Year vacation. I eagerly applied with guidance from my teachers and was accepted. Below I describe my experiences.

During my “Dean’s list program”, I’ve learnt so much about culture, food, people and skills.

In taking lectures and visiting different Universities and colleges, I felt: the energetic class engagement, the beauty of the campus after the snow and the strong academic environment in every university. From Ms. Nancy Sommers’s writing lesson in Harvard University, I developed the skills to write a high-quality essay and a precise research paper.
By working collaboratively in Entrepreneurship, Hologram and Shakespeare workshops, I expanded my scope of knowledge and identified the benefits of cooperation.
In terms of “Risk Taking” I had to write a research paper with a strict format like a thesis. I were asked to research in Yale’s library and write 1000 words in 3 days on a very tight schedule. It was hard and I was exhausted but after I completed it all my efforts were worthwhile.
I watched the Yale vs. Cornell basketball game, the Broadway show and visited the 9/11 memorial. I enjoyed different styles of Art to remember the past.

I had a lot of interaction with people with different nationalities in campus and in life- I recommend this to anyone wanting to try out a similar programme. Also I got a taste of local food like bagels, pizzas and burgers. This experience benefited me by helping shape my identity more and teaching me about College life!
