At 9:30 am on November 14th, the school fire alarm sounded signaling the beginning of the 2018 WUIS fire drill organized by both Wuxi United International School and the Xishan Fire Brigade .
When the alarm started, the normal power supply in the campus was automatically cut off, and the emergency lights turned on. After hearing the alarm sound, all teachers and students gathered to the appointed place. Teachers guided students, crouching down and covering their mouths and noses, along the route to evacuate to the school safe area. After teachers and students arrived at the playground, each homeroom teacher counted students’ numbers and checked any students who were injured or not. The escape only took about 5 minutes without any incident.

Then the Xi’shan District Fire Chief Mr Fan introduced firefighting knowledge, simulated firefighting. Firemen also showed us how to rescue trapped staff winning applause from teachers and students.
At last, Mr. Zhou made a summary of this fire drill, and meanwhile he gave us a speech about the importance of safety with examples. He hopes all staff and students could learn fire safety knowledge and more safety skills for future life.
At 20:15, the alarm sounded in the boarding building. Without any panic, teachers led the boarders to escape from the boarding building according to the fire drill plan. Everything went smoothly. The night fire drill not only enhances the safety awareness of boarding staff and students but also consolidates practical skills.
Two fire drills a day let the staff and students review the escape routes, improve the escape awareness and learn necessary skills. Everything is well prepared for any unexpected event.
