In June, our campus is full of green trees and growing vitality. On the morning of Children’s Day, Wuxi United International School held a flag-raising ceremony themed on “Knowledgeable”, one of the IB Learner Profile attributes. All teachers and students gathered in the gymnasium, beginning a new month of wisdom with the national anthem, and discussing together: In this era of information explosion, what does it truly mean to be “Knowledgeable”?
With the soaring melody, the Five-starred Red Flag rose slowly. All teachers and students sang the national anthem solemnly. The joy of Children’s Day blended with the solemnity of seeking knowledge, inspiring every WUIS student.
Mr Meng delivered a speech titled “How to Be a True Knowledgeable Learner?”He pointed out that being knowledgeable is not just about memorizing facts; it is about connecting knowledge to the real world.
True knowledge comes from wide exploration. Whether understanding our roots through history, unlocking mysteries through science, or feeling emotions through literature, reading is the ladder to wisdom.
Knowledge should not stay only in books. From the veins of a leaf to the rules of our school, from teamwork in class to daily interactions, every detail of life holds wisdom waiting to be discovered.
“Behind every answer lies a new question; beyond every arrival lies a farther road.” Mr Meng encouraged students to remain humble—proud of what they know, yet full of awe and curiosity for the unknown.

The event also coincided with the recognition of WUIS students who have achieved outstanding results in robotics, academics, languages, sports, and other fields recently, using these role models to exemplify the educational philosophy of “the unity of knowledge and action.”
At the close of the ceremony, the hosts shared a wish: May every WUIS student absorb knowledge like a sponge and apply it like an explorer. Do not settle for standard answers; seek broader questions. Do not let knowledge sleep in exam papers; let it become the power to change the world.
Keep learning. Keep practicing. Let us become truly knowledgeable learners.
