In today’s world, parenting challenges are endless. Only by identifying the core issues and adopting scientific approaches to nurturing can we truly support children’s steady growth. Following the homeroom teacher salon, Professor Chen delivered another insightful lecture tailored for our school’s parents, themed “Seeing, Accompanying, Growing.” With her professional expertise, she broke down the essence of parenting, helping parents move beyond common misconceptions and build a solid foundation for their children’s development.
Parenting begins with seeing—understanding children’s needs and identifying the core of the issue. First, ensure their physical and emotional safety, correct behavioral deviations, and then clarify the underlying causes of learning difficulties. Ultimately, by adhering to the principle of teaching according to individual aptitudes, discover each child’s strengths and provide targeted guidance to help them realize their full potential.
Companionship is the foundation of a child’s confidence, and the approach to companionship should be tailored to their developmental stage. For children aged 0-12, the focus should be on high-quality companionship, offering unconditional love to build a strong sense of security. For adolescents aged 12-18, the mode of companionship needs to shift—loosening physical boundaries while emphasizing psychological support and emotional acceptance.
Growth is the ultimate goal of parenting, which requires breaking through common misconceptions and focusing on cultivating core competencies. Avoid the pitfall of child-centered parenting—refrain from doing everything for your child, and instead, involve them in household responsibilities to foster social skills and a sense of duty. Keep pace with the development of the AI era by moving away from rote indoctrination, prioritizing the enhancement of children’s critical thinking skills and global perspective, and igniting their inner curiosity and drive to explore.
Cultivating the fertile ground of education to build a strong foundation for nurturing students. Following the special lecture for parents, Professor Chen continued her intensive schedule by conducting a themed training session for all our Chinese teachers, titled “Enhancing Teacher Competence and Focusing on Student Growth.” The session centered on developing teachers’ core qualities, conveying scientific educational concepts, and empowering teachers—helping them to safeguard student growth with a more professional approach.
Striving to become an expert teacher is the core goal of professional development. Professor Chen pointed out that teachers should cultivate a sense of achievement, view education from a positive perspective, and enhance their sense of self-worth. Grounded in the classroom, they should maintain a positive state, hone solid competencies, and ignite students’ passion for learning through emotional resonance. By guiding students to love and delve deeply into their subjects, teachers can achieve mutual growth through teaching and learning, thereby supporting students’ holistic development.
Drawing on a wealth of practical cases, Professor Chen conveyed professional concepts in accessible language and solved educational problems with pragmatic methods, allowing every participant to gain insights through learning and to improve through those insights. With the original aspiration of nurturing unchanged and the pursuit of excellence never ceasing. May every educator and parent protect each child’s heart with gentleness, help children walk steadfastly on their growth path and blossom towards the sun, and jointly embark on a warm and powerful educational journey.
