As nature enters its period of dormancy and the year draws to a close, the entire school community gathered in the gym on the morning of December 1st for a flag-raising ceremony themed “Becoming Broad-Minded Individuals.
As the majestic national anthem played, the Five-Starred Red Flag was raised steadily. Teachers and students stood solemnly, paying their respects, with feelings of patriotism and collective pride stirring within their hearts, marking the beginning of a new week of campus life.
Centering on the theme of “broad-mindedness,” Ms. Hazel and Mr. Sheldon delivered speeches. They explained that being broad-minded involves not only listening to different voices but also appreciating diverse cultures and respecting varying perspectives—a sign of wisdom. They highlighted the school as a platform for developing empathy and critical thinking, sharing practical ways to cultivate this mindset: replacing judgment with curiosity, daring to question and break through limitations, and seeking common ground amidst differences. They called on students to start from their daily interactions and strive to be ambassadors of cultural exchange.

Following the speeches, the ceremony proceeded to the award presentation segment.
