On Friday September 26, the WUIS Theatre Club transformed WUIS Grand Theatre into a roaring 1920s Parisian cabaret with their theatre production called, “A Night at the Cabaret”. Under the guidance of Mr. Andy and Ms. Ketaki, students from Grades 8–12 students took full creative control—writing, directing, choreographing, designing and producing every moment of this immersive production.
A Student-Led Creative Journey

Every department—from scriptwriting and choreography to set, props, costumes, hair & makeup—was entirely student-run.
In-depth research into 1920s Paris inspired original scripts, musical selections, Art Deco renderings and technical blueprints.
Student teams sourced and curated specialty props, built a multi-layered modular backdrop, coordinated fittings for 15+ cast members, and created signature victory rolls, smoky eyes and bold red lips.
Weekly rehearsals, pep talks and late-night set checks—plus fast-paced backstage touch-ups—brought this fully immersive cabaret experience to life.
Stars of the Show

Bella Xie, Alice Xia, Sunny Rong, Ella Dong, and Effie Wang coordinated schedules, aligned departments and kept the team motivated. A great cast led my Atlan Zhou, featuring Ella Dong, Emily Chan, Shamu, Amber, Yumi, Effie Wang, Engel, Fanfan, Tino, Sammy, Jackson, Leo Li. Their leadership proved that student-driven projects foster both creativity and responsibility.
