Amidst the vibrant spring blossoms, WUIS presents its 12th annual spelling bee contest! This year’s contest features vocabulary carefully selected from across our curriculum, truly testing participants’ academic knowledge.
Preparation began during winter break, with students progressing through warm-up activities and rigorous preliminary rounds. Eight outstanding teams ultimately earned their place in the finals. On May 9, 2025, these talented spellers will take the stage to showcase their wisdom and courage, writing a brilliant new chapter in our “Spelling Masters” legacy!
Warm-up Days—Stamp Your Way to Glory
During the first break, the corridors buzzed with excitement as children crowded around Super Words, each eager to be the first in their grade to solve the challenges. By snack break, the hallways had transformed into “Spelling Power Stations”! Students darted between stations, tackling word challenges designed by English teachers. The urgent spelling chants and cheers of the children blended into a vibrant symphony of springtime energy across WUIS campus!
Preliminary Week——Grade-Level Battles
From May 5th to 6th, each grade participated in customized preliminary challenges! G1&2 students competed in Letter by letter, middle graders in Laser Eyes and Picture words, while senior students faced Show and Spell and Speed spell as well. Through these diverse formats, students demonstrated their vocabulary knowledge, word recognition skills, and quick response. The top 8 performers from each grade secured their places in the finals!
The Final——Legendary Clash
On May 9th, the Spelling Bee finals brought together the best eight teams for an exciting competition. All participants tried their hardest to win for their teams. During “Super Words”, the team challenge, all members worked together perfectly to solve difficult words. When the winning team was announced, everyone cheered loudly. This competition wasn’t just about spelling skills – it demonstrated the true meaning of “Bee Bold, Spell Gold” and inspired all students to take the brave competitors as role models, encouraging them to explore the ocean of knowledge and strive for excellence.
