In the early morning of November 19, WUIS secondary school students gathered in their houses. They marched in their full house colors with pride and readiness to take part in the house sports’ events. Ms. Lowe and Mr. Wright in collaboration with our Sports Science students led all the houses in dynamic stretches and Sumba dance to warm up.
Football, Frisbee and basketball games started soon after. The students showed great athleticism and passion for the sports that they played. They are extremely competitive but displayed sportsmanship in cheering for those who did very well in other teams.
In 100 meters sprint for the girls, red house dominated. Blue house took second place and green house is third. For the 1000 meters race for the boys, yellow house took first place followed by green house and then red house.
The most awaited event, teachers’ relay followed soon after. Teachers from all over the globe displayed their hidden sprinting abilities, giving the students something to look forward to for the next sports event.
At the end of the day, yellow house earned total points of 251. Red House earned 258, placing them in third place. Green House is second with total points of 267 and Blue House is once again the champion with total points of 272. Students are reminded with these words “success and failures comes and goes. Don’t be overjoyed and upset; rather make yourself experienced enough to handle any challenges; life is a long race and you have miles to go.”
