Launching Ceremony of the Third Mentor Project (Primary School)
In order to promote the leading role of experienced teachers and help young teachers quickly improve their professional quality and teaching ability, our school recently held the launching ceremony of the third Mentor Project.
The school arranges excellent experienced teachers as mentors for each young teacher to pass on, help and lead “knowledge, ability, operation and practice” in teaching and class management. Meanwhile, in order to build a community for teachers’ growth and improve their overall teaching quality and efficiency, school encourages young teachers to learn from teachers teaching in different grades and subjects, actively explore integrated education and create more possibilities for education.
As a “mentor” / “mentee”, who am I and what is my primary responsibility? At the beginning of the launching ceremony, the teachers had a heated discussion on this topic. Experienced teachers believed that in addition to preaching, teaching and dispelling doubts, they should also keep learning from young teachers to make progress together. What’s more, the guidance and care for young teachers are reflected not only in work, but also in life. Young teachers mentioned that they would take the initiative to ask their “mentors”, learn with an open mind, and actively communicate with other teachers. At the same time, they should also dare to accept challenges, innovate and surpass, and strive to become a teacher with growth mindset.
Then, Vice Principal Ella Zhang talked with young teachers about their growth. She interpreted the new education policies and emphasized the importance of classroom learning for students. By explaining the evaluation criteria of an excellent lesson in WUIS, she encouraged teachers to know more about children, to explore interesting, effective and diversified teaching strategies, and to focus on cultivating students’ ability in learning and thinking as well as their overall quality. Last but not least, be a gentle and firm teacher.
Finally, Principal Mr. Zhou put forward his hopes and specific requirements for teachers. He encouraged everyone to build a good relationship where teachers can help each other, be positive, work hard and be innovative. Under the leadership of experienced teachers, young teachers are able to quickly grow into qualified teachers, injecting new energy into WUIS.
The meeting also included a brief but meaningful pairing appointment ceremony for experienced teachers and young teachers. At the ceremony, 30 of them went onto the stage in pairs according to subjects. Mentees presented beautiful flowers to the mentors, and the school issued the appointment letters to all the mentors and took a photo together.
“青蓝工程”启动仪式落幕,但携手成长,共育桃李的征程才刚刚开始,期待我校青年教师“青出于蓝而胜于蓝”,愿我们都能初心为楫,未来可期。
