Philosophy shop is a place set up at WUIS where teachers, students, parents and visitors can discuss philosophical questions. Since 2019, each month Philosophy shop proposes one thinking question for every one to share ideas and to respond to others’ and our ultimate goal is to help each other become wiser and more reflective.

Wondering About Wonderland
Narrator: David enjoyed reading Alice in Wonderland very much, and though that Alice was a brave and clever girl because of all that she said and did during her adventures down the rabbit hole. He told his friend Paul that he thought Alice was brave.
Paul: She wasn’t brave, because she didn’t exist. She is only a character in a story. How could she be brave? You have to really exist to be brave- or cowardly, or silly, or clever, or anything else for that matter.
Question: Can a fictional character be brave?
