Dear Parents and students:
Let’s start by saying happy new year to students and parents. We have all now started our online learning in these difficult times, and we are delighted to see the enthusiasm with which our students have approached their studies in this new learning environment.
While our aim is to keep core academic standards high, and optimize learning time, whilst minimizing unnecessary screen time, it is also important that we stick to our remit of creating well-balanced individuals.
In order to ensure that our students remain fit, healthy and active, and that they also maintain their passion for creativity, the Music, P.E. and Art departments will provide your child with some activities over the coming weeks. Hopefully your child has already started following along with the daily exercise videos from the P.E. department.
These activities will not follow a set schedule, as per other subjects, but we ask that you schedule a time in your child’s daily routine that is convenient for your family. We appreciate that being largely contained indoors can be challenging, especially for small children, and we hope that these activities will go some way to both relieving boredom, and maintaining students’ broad range of interests.
Music
This is a special spring festival in Wuhan, where the new coronavirus is a disaster to nine provinces and thoroughfares. This is a war without gunpowder. So many Chinese people are fighting in the front line. This is a time when all people are united. 1.4 billion Chinese people are singing a “National Anthem”
Music, composed of simple notes, shows its unique and colorful personality and presents a colorful world. A good song represents a kind of thought, love, peace, or power. In such a special moment, we should not panic and protect ourselves, but also use music and dance to give our highest respect

PE
As we all know we are in a bit of a crisis situation. We are providing the students with the means to continue their healthy ways by providing them with exercises at home. PE is not a core subject but it is incredibly important for students to do daily exercises.
PE helps student’s physical development, such as developing strength, improving cardiovascular capacity, keeping bones strong, decreasing body fat. This helps students to maintain a steady, healthy weight. PE also helps a student’s psychological well-being, such as enhancing their self-esteem, it reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety, increases concentration and alertness, boosts energy levels and helps controls mood swings.
