G8 Bill Huang(national ranking No.9
This is Bill Huang of Grade 8. I was lucky enough to have achieved the 9th ranking (national) in the 2019 International Academic Competition Qualifier Round. I am pleased with my score, but am not over-excited. This competition has covered a wide range of knowledge, but most of them are within my field of interest. I guess my achievement is mostly due to my passion for humanity and general knowledge study.
Just like most of you, I came to know, in my childhood, various natural sceneries and historical heritages from books, TV programs and through traveling. I have had a strong curiosity for all kinds of things in the world, which has prompted me to read and explore more. Any new information gained, again, prompted me to explore further and further. My knowledge accumulation, in this way, has been like rolling a snow ball.
Due to my enthusiasm, I have always been thinking about new ways to find more about the world. Museums are my favorite places, as they are visualizations of humanities and there is a logical relativity behind each piece that is displayed. During my visit to Taiwan 3 years ago, I spent a continuous three days in the National Palace Museum and have been thinking about visiting again ever since.
It is my point that any academic achievement must be associated with the enthusiasm for acquiring the knowledge related. It was lucky for me that my field of passion is a good match with what was covered in the Competition. Mates, I believe, every one of you have your own fields of interest. If you actively engage yourself in what you are interested, you too can enjoy the moment of yours.
Looking forward to seeing your great performance in IAC National Round on the 14th and 15th of the coming March in WUIS.
