Do you still remember the boy named Shane in WUIS, as the runner-up of the junior middle division in the final SPBCN spelling competition, entered the north American city championship challenge? This summer, He, with a total of 34 junior and middle school players from all over the country traveled from Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong to Los Angeles to represent China in the north American city championship challenge.
There were nine players from each national competition area after a fierce competition. Bowei Xiang was one of only two Asian faces on the team. As a non-native speaker, he was undoubtedly thrilled and proud to be able to compete with the native speakers.
In the end, Shane won the appreciation of all the guests and judges with his excellent performance in the fourth place.
Then, with his outstanding performance in the North American city championship challenge, Shane was invited to take part in the GCSCC world championship competition of China. As it was two different competitions, He faced another challenge. The intense and orderly preparation made him quickly adapt to the rhythm and he had no other thoughts but to fight. With solid language skills and excellent field performance, Shane won the fourth place in the GCSCC spelling world championship competition of China.
The sweat and harvest made the 10-year-old boy feel a lot. After the competition, he said: “after seven months of preparation, I saw the excellence of other players and the direction of my own efforts on the international stage. At the same time, I gained friendship, confidence and also broadened my horizon, which is a very valuable lesson in my growth. I will fight again next year to make myself better.”
Nobody can succeed without hardworking. Shane’s experience showed us No pain, no gain.
An excellent kid always be filled with different kinds of activities. Shane’s parents pay more attention to family education. The abundant extracurricular activities after school arrangement makes school education and family education perfectly combined.
With a new academic year, we hope WUIS students becoming better and better.
