In November 30th, the secondary school basketball team of Wuxi United International School participated an away basketball match at Wuxi Taihu International School. This is a long – awaited match.
In spite of the cold weather, the players were very enthusiastic about the game and couldn’t wait to compete with the players from Taihu international school.
There were two separate games for junior and high schools, four sections per game, 8 minutes each. The junior high school basketball team took the lead in the game. The players are Tom Lin, Charles Cao, Tony Bian, Oscar Pu, Alex Wang, Stephen Pan, Lester Luo of Grade 8 and Seven Han, Leo Li, Carrey Qin, Frank Fan of Grade 9.
The whole team worked very well. With our outstanding outside shooter Oscar Pu and Leo Li of Grade 9, excellent organizer Alex Wang and Stephen Pan of Grade 8, competent Tony Bian of Grade 8, brilliant center Charles Cao of Grade 8 and outstanding backboard controller Carrey Qin of Grade 9, we won the first game easily with a big score.
Following is the high school competition. The players are Eric Wu of Grade 9, Sunny Li, Black Chen , Tyler Tang ,Kobe Wang, Sam Sun of Grade 10, Deb, Herry Wu of Grade 11 and Barny Zhang of Grade 12.
Stimulated by the first game, the high school competition became very intense at the very beginning.
The score of the first section was 10:8, Wuxi United International School was 2 points ahead. The No. 2 player of Taihu International School became great trouble, his strong breakthrough ability can always get free throws for his team. Facing the intense defense of Taihu International School and breakthrough foul ability of No. 2 player, our team has a discussion at the end of the first section for targeted defense and players change. Team captain Barny Zhang of Grade 12 played point guard, Eric Wu of Grade 9 played small forward, Sam Sun of Grade 10, who has a height advantage on the inside determined to play regardless of his feet injure.
We had a great lead at the second section with the score 21:11, laying the foundation for the second half to win the game. The scores for the third and fourth sections were 14:8 and 13:8, and finally we won the second game with the score 58:35.
Although we won the two games, we also learned a lot and became aware of our shortcomings, such as pressure adjustment in away games, adaptment to the venue, the understanding of standard , these are the parts our basketball team needs to improve. We had great team work and everyone tried their best to win the game. Only the ones who experienced it knows how difficult it was. Each player of the team is the day of the MVP of the day.
We will also thank the organizer Taihu international school, the excellent performance of the basketball players from the middle school and high school, and the two referees. Everyone has worked hard and contributed an amazing basketball tournament.
All members of secondary school basketball team, coach Jason Li, photographer Emily Xie of Grade 9 and Kimmy Li of Grade 10. Grateful thanks to Ms. Rebecca for her support for our team.
The U14 members of Wuxi United International School will participate in league matches organized by Jr.NBA on 19th Dec, which will be more intense. We look forward to their achievements and improvement.
