P4C (Philosophy for Children) is a teaching methodology that can largely promote children’s thinking and learning abilities. Four different thinking skills will be cultivated in this inquiry lesson, which are critical thinking, creative thinking, caring thinking and collaborative thinking.
P4C class is fondly loved by students at WUIS. To help parents better know P4C, our school held the first parent P4C workshop from Jun 19th to Jun 21st.
The workshop gave parents an initial experience of what P4C class is like and shared the inner philosophical world of children with them, through which parents felt the wisdom embedded in this lesson. Later during the reflection section, parents gave lots of positive feedbacks, saying that children are inborn philosophers and each individual should be respected and that adults need to listen to children more.
We want to show our gratitude to all the parents again for their participation, sharing and support. P4C can not turn children into philosophers or decision makers, but it helps them become more considerate, reflective, caring and reasonable. Let us have fun in playing with ideas every day and never stop pursuing truth and wisdom!
